Eat in the City: Stockholm
Stockholm Buildings

Stockholm is a fun and easily accessible destination from the UK and with a great café culture and music scene it is perfect for a weekend city break. On our whistlestop tour of Stockholm last month we made a note of some of the great vegan and vegan-friendly places to eat in this chic capital.

STHM RAW was a bit of a revelation for me as I have never been a huge fan of raw desserts but these brightly coloured and perfectly layered ‘cakes’ were absolutely incredible. The flavours were full and the textures were delightful. They serve great coffee as well as some savoury snacks like avocado on rye with cashew nut cream cheese and the interior is a lovely lesson in Scandi chic. STHLM RAW is the perfect place for an afternoon coffee and sweet treat, located in Hornstull it is a little off the tourist track next to some beautiful parks if you fancy a stroll in the city.

Hermans is a Stockholm institution with incredible views out across the city. It is easy to get to by subway and offers a delicious selection of vegetarian food with lots of vegan options. The setup is buffet style so you can load up your plate as often as you like and they make a variety of vegan desserts in house including cakes and tarts. The atmosphere is warm and laid back and it is the perfect place to wind down with a homemade ale and some hot food after a day of busy sightseeing.

There are eight of these ice cream parlours dotted around Stockholm and they serve a wide selection of amazing looking freshly-made gelatos many of which are vegan, produced with their own home-made nut milk. They also have a selection of sorbets which are also vegan. Unfortunately we were caught out by their limited off-season opening hours and couldn’t eat our way through their vegan selection although our guide insisted that these were some of the very best vegan ice creams she had ever tried. Sounds like it is worth a second visit to Stockholm in the summer!
