Face Serums: Magical Potions That Really Work

I'm a beauty junkie ladies and gentlemen, there's no point in hiding it. I started moisturising when I was a child, of my own accord. I'd go and raid my mum's beauty cabinet and apply lotions and potions that were probably not suitable for a kid of six.
When asked what I wanted for my 18th birthday, my answer was an eye cream! A tad precocious perhaps, but the habit of taking care of my skin has never left me and in the last 10 years I've also turned my obsession into a job.

My daily routine is: cleanse, apply serum, which I sometimes alternate with a good face oil, eye cream and moisturiser. A couple of times a week I'll also apply a mask and have a gentle scrub.

One of my favourite skincare products is without a doubt serum. Serum is a concentration of goodness and provides unbeatable nourishment. If I go without applying it for a few days (this tends to happen when I'm on holiday when my skincare routine becomes a little more lax) I really notice the difference. There are plenty of cruelty-free and vegan serums on the market that target whatever skin needs one may have. These are three of my very favourite ones and here's why...

AnneMarie Anti-Ageing Serum, £48.95

This vegan serum is packed with hyaluronic acid, an ingredient often found in moisturising and anti-ageing products because it acts as a magnet for water, plumping and hydrating the skin. It also contains aloe vera, which works very well at calming and soothing the skin, rosehip oil, packed with antioxidant and a blend of essential oils. It smells fresh and natural, absorbs in an instant and leaves the skin radiant and moisturised. It really works on all skin types, but it's particularly good on dry and ageing skin.

BodyVerde 10-Hour Tight Wrinkle Smoothing Serum £19.99

This serum works in minutes and you can feel it tightening the skin. It's great for those with enlarged pores, oily, sagging and ageing skin. It works very well under makeup and can be safely used without fear of irritation or redness. The results will disappear once the serum is washed off, so this is more of an immediate effect cosmetic product rather than one that will work overtime.

BRYT Skincare Essential Serum £16.50

A brilliant, vegan all-rounder. BRYT Skincare Essential Serum's main ingredients are rose absolute and English chamomile and it works well at nourishing and calming the skin. Suitable for those with normal and sensitive epidermis, I find that this works very well on dry skin too. It has a light, easily absorbed texture with a very subtle, natural scent, works well for any age and it's perfect as a start-up serum. Great under makeup.
